The 100 Years of Mining celebration at the North Bay waterfront was more than just a milestone. It was a gathering of minds, machines, and momentum. SafeSight was proud to stand alongside other leaders in the mining industry to reflect on a century of progress and share a glimpse of what the future holds. The energy was electric, the crowds were engaged, and the spirit of innovation was unmistakable.
A Century of Progress: Celebrating 100 Years of Mining
It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by so many organizations pushing the boundaries of mining technology. From heavy machinery demonstrations to educational exhibits and virtual simulators, the event was a showcase of just how far the industry has come.
At the SafeSight booth, our custom-built obstacle course became one of the standout features of the weekend. Designed to replicate real-world underground challenges, the course gave attendees a firsthand look at how our DeepTraxx rover navigates tight spaces, uneven terrain, and obstructed paths. The live demonstrations of the SafeScout: Scout drone added an aerial dimension to the experience, flying seamlessly through the same confined course to show how drone-based visuals can complement underground operations.
And yes, we made it a competition.
We invited visitors to test their skills and see who could pilot the DeepTraxx through the course with the most speed and precision. After two days of tight races and lots of cheering, we were proud to crown Vincent L. as our official DeepTraxx Ace 2025. Congratulations, Vincent, and thanks for showing off what’s possible when operator intuition meets advanced rover tech.
Alongside the obstacle course, we had the opportunity to showcase a range of SafeSight technologies currently transforming underground operations. From LiDAR-based mapping solutions to emergency response tools designed to keep crews safer during inspections, rescues, and exploration. Our team appreciated the thoughtful conversations and questions from attendees of all ages, especially those eager to know what the next 100 years of mining might look like.
Looking back, it’s remarkable to consider the evolution of mining in North Bay over the last century. What began with manual tools and hand-dug shafts has transformed into an industry that now integrates robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and real-time digital data. North Bay has not only kept pace with this transformation, it has led it. We’re proud to have our headquarters in a city that champions mining innovation and continues to support collaboration between education, industry, and technology developers.
At SafeSight, we see ourselves as part of that future. Our work with underground drones, scanning tools, and autonomous platforms is just the beginning. As we look ahead to the next 100 years, we’re focused on creating smarter, safer mining solutions that serve both people and the planet. This event reminded us just how strong the foundation is, and how limitless the future can be.

To everyone who made the 100 Years of Mining celebration possible: thank you. Here’s to a century of progress, and to building the next one, together.
