BC Advanced Mining Projects to Generate $90B+ in Economic Activity, Study Finds

British Columbia (BC) stands at the forefront of Canada’s mining renaissance, with 27 advanced mining projects poised to inject more than C$90 billion into the province’s economy, according to a recent independent economic impact study commissioned by the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC).

The construction phase alone for these projects is expected to attract over C$41 billion in investments, generating thousands of jobs, approximately C$27 billion in labor income, and over C$12 billion in tax revenues. Local procurement of goods and services is also projected to surpass C$20 billion, benefiting numerous businesses, including many First Nations-owned enterprises.

Driving Economic Growth and Sustainable Resource Development

MABC President and CEO Michael Goehring emphasized the critical role BC’s mineral wealth plays in the global supply chain:
“BC has the minerals, precious metals, and steelmaking coal the world needs. Mining can drive new waves of economic growth — creating jobs, strengthening communities, and supporting government services.”

The study forecasts that over the coming decades, these mining operations could contribute nearly C$984 billion in economic activity to BC, securing a strong and resilient economic future for the province.

BC’s mining industry is also recognized for its low carbon footprint and responsible production of materials essential to modern technology sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy.

SafeSight Exploration: Enhancing Mining Safety and Efficiency in BC

Mike Campigotto, founder of SafeSight Exploration, views the ongoing growth in BC’s mining sector as a perfect moment to leverage innovative technologies that improve operational safety and environmental stewardship.

“As BC advances some of the most significant mining projects in the country, we at SafeSight are proud to support this growth with cutting-edge drone and sensor technologies,” says Mike. “Our solutions deliver high-resolution 3D mapping, environmental monitoring, and real-time hazard detection, which are crucial for safe and efficient mine development.”

SafeSight’s drone platforms and remote sensing capabilities enable mining operators to gather detailed geological data and monitor sites continuously, minimizing risks for workers and reducing environmental impacts.

A Collaborative Future for BC’s Mining Sector

The study, conducted by Mansfield Consulting, analyzed 18 critical mineral projects, six precious metal projects, and three steelmaking coal projects at advanced development stages. It builds on previous assessments and reflects BC’s commitment to responsible resource development that balances economic benefits with environmental care.

With over 35,000 jobs supported by the mining sector and nearly 4,000 businesses engaged, including many First Nations enterprises, BC’s mining industry is a vital contributor to the province’s economic fabric, accounting for nearly 30% of goods exports and $18 billion in annual economic activity.

In early 2025, the BC government fast-tracked 18 mining and energy projects valued at C$20 billion, accelerating the path toward resource development and economic resilience.

As BC moves forward with these landmark projects, SafeSight Exploration remains committed to equipping the mining industry with advanced technology solutions that ensure safety, precision, and sustainability — helping to build a prosperous and responsible mining future in British Columbia.
